Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is the most frequent and common cause of vertigo affecting the vestibular system, which allows people to maintain balance.  The vertigo is triggered by changes in the head position, most commonly when laying down, giving the individual a sense of dizziness. Signs and symptoms of BPPV including dizziness, loss of balance, nausea and vomiting. Vertigo/BPPV is diagnosed through the identification of Nystagmus (a series of eye movements) and is treated with positional maneuvers.
